May 27, 2003 - Washington Post publishes WalkDC letter to the editor

 pg. A.18 EDITORIAL
The bad news is that traffic accidents are an enormous problem. The District had more than 13,000 in 2001, resulting in more than 10,000 injuries. Forty-nine people died, more than half of whom were pedestrians, bicyclists or motorcyclists. In recent years, about 550 pedestrians have been struck in the District.

May 2002 - Comments to Washington City Paper for a story titled 'Crossing Over'

June 2001 - A presentation made to the Montgomery County Blue Ribbon Panel on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Community Forum on Pedestrian Safety on June 6, 2001. Marie is a well-known (and well-informed) pedestrian advocate. As she says, "It is shocking that the US could have enough dead pedestrians to fill twenty jumbo jets a year and at the same time have safety experts and politicians saying that safety was their top priority, yet not mention this. What could account for this?"

Jan 2001 - Contribution to DC AT THE CROSSROADS

November 19, 2002 - Participation in the MWCOG  BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN SUBCOMMITTEE

December 11, 2001 - Testimony Presented to the Montgomery County Planning Board

November 21st, 2001 -  Testimony before the D.C. Council panel concerning pedestrian, bicycle safety issues

July 18, 2001 - Testimony Presented to the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board

On a continuous basis WalkDC provided issue related technical support to Metroped and the Safe Crossings Campaign.
