Possible Huntley Meadows Bike Path

 

Currently bicyclist and pedestrians can avoid the much of the heavily traffic hill and at South Kings Hwy but taking a right on Lantern to connect to Bedrock Rd to connect to Lockheed Blvd

The light green path in the above map is an un-maintained walk path used by the American Volksmarch Association.  It avoids any of the official paths through the center of the Park.  Park folks are loath to have these trail act as a east west connector.  

The Blue/Green path is a suggestion that significantly reduces use of HM Park but 'right of way' in neighborhood is unclear.  It is also possible a short connector between Lockheed and Deer Run but the right of way and community support would be difficult.
