Sherwood Hall Re-stripping
Sherwood Hall Lane was re-paved during the August 2001 time
frame. HCA President, Mike Mcpherson worked with Supervisor Hyland and
neighboring Civic Associations to petition VDOT for a speed conscious
re-striping. Additional support came from Kevin Brugman, the Mount
Vernon Representative of Fairfax
Non-Motorized Transportation Committee. VDOT agreed that
the previously wide lanes on Sherwood-Hall was conducive to
speeding.
Mike's action resulted in resulted in a re-striping that significantly
widened the parking lanes. No only does this have a speed calming
affect on thru-traffic, it also provides a better site-line to cars coming
from the left for those pulling out of Earldale Court, Hollindale and Whiteoaks
Drive.
